What’s New for Cadillac in 2021?
The 2021 model year is bringing mostly minor changes to the Cadillac lineup, however the legendary Cadillac Escalade has seen a complete overhaul. The new Escalade is now larger, giving you more passenger and cargo space than in previous models. The interior is now more flexible as well, giving you the options to slide, fold, and remove seats as needed to expand cargo space. There is also a long-wheelbase version of the Escalade called the ESV, and it gives you even more space to work with inside your three-row luxury SUV.
Inside, the tech takes over with a flourish in the form of a 38-inch curved LED display with three zones of information to give you unprecedented access to information and customization across the entire display. There is a 7.2-inch touchscreen display that sits to the left, a 14.2-inch digital gauge cluster display in the middle with several display options, and a 16.9-inch infotainment touchscreen display to the right that acts as your main control center.
The driving experience of the new Escalade is aided by technology as well, as the Super Cruise semi-autonomous drive mode now makes its way into the flagship Cadillac model. The updated Super Cruise you’ll get in this model now features autonomous lane changing as well, helping improve both safety and confidence behind the wheel. Super Cruise also makes its way into the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 models, while the Cadillac CT6 has been discontinued completely for the 2021 model year.
What’s Coming in 2022
The biggest news for Cadillac in 2022 will be the introduction of their first-ever fully electric vehicle. The 2022 Cadillac LYRIQ will be a sport-luxury crossover powered by the new Ultium platform. This makes the batteries a part of the structure of the vehicle, helping lower the center of gravity and enabling even weight distribution for improved handling and stability. The LYRIQ is expected to offer up to 300 miles of range and can charge completely in just over an hour on a public DC fast-charging station.
The design of the LYRIQ is just as impressive as the EV powertrain, with a stunning LED lighting profile and a side profile that is completely unique to the industry. The LYRIQ sports a high shoulder line, long, flat hood that tapers just toward the nose, and a curved roofline that sweeps back into a raked rear window. It’s equal parts impressive and aggressive, and it will surely turn heads throughout Atlanta.
At the opposite end of the spectrum you’ll find the 2022 CT5-V Blackwing. Sporting a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, this modern muscle car throws down 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. It can also be had with a six-speed manual transmission for those who want the visceral feel of control while driving.
