When you visit Classic Cadillac of Atlanta, you’ll notice that there are no hybrid or electric Cadillac models currently within the new model lineup. However, it wasn’t that long ago that Cadillac did offer a stunning hybrid coupe, and looking forward, there is a stylish electric SUV on the way along with more hybrid and EV options coming down the pike. The team at our Atlanta Cadillac dealership is thrilled about what the future holds for the Cadillac brand, and we’re here to share what we know so far so you know what to expect next.

What was the last Hybrid Cadillac model?

The last time Cadillac produced a hybrid model was the 2016 Cadillac ELR. This hybrid coupe was boldly designed for the time, with a high shoulder line and four-beam projector headlights along with a wide front grille that really helped it stand out from the crowd. In many ways, the design of the current Cadillac lineup can be traced to this hybrid coupe, even if the powertrain didn’t stick around. The hybrid powertrain offered 40 miles of EV range, after which the combustion engine would kick on and power a generator that would provide power to the electric motor once again. However, if you needed it, the combustion engine could also send power to the wheels, resulting in a combined 217 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque from the hybrid system overall.

Is Cadillac Planning to Produce a New Hybrid Model?

The short answer is yes, and the longer answer is yes, and it’s coming very soon. A new Cadillac Escalade is coming down the pike and is predicted to come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that delivers the impressive power you’ve come to expect from this large and luxurious SUV, but provides an EV boost that allows for electric-only driving or can boost fuel economy on longer drives.

What are Cadillac’s Plans for Electrification?

Cadillac is planning to be completely electric by 2030, a move that competes with Volvo’s commitment to a similar goal. And Cadillac is already on their way forward with the introduction of an all-new EV crossover that should be arriving early in 2022.

Is the Cadillac LYRIQ Coming to Atlanta?

Yes, the Cadillac LYRIQ is planned to be Cadillac’s first mass-market fully electric vehicle. This stunning crossover takes design into the future as well, with bold lines and proportions that are sure to define the category. The LYRIQ offers a strong electric powertrain that clocks in at around 300 miles of range, competing with the Mustang Mach-E and deftly beating out the Volvo XC40 Recharge. Plus, you’ll enjoy a powerful push whenever you put your foot down thanks to the instant torque delivery offered by the electric motors. The LYRIQ is a massive leap forward for Cadillac, and it promises to bring the same level of excitement and luxury that discerning Cadillac drivers demand.

How Quickly Will the LYRIQ Charge?

The upcoming Cadillac LYRIQ is offers 150kW charge rates on public fast chargers and at-home Level 2 charging rates up to 19 kW, so you’ll have no trouble topping up the range as you travel. In fact, you should be able to charge the battery completely in just over an hour on a public fast charger, so you can get the range you need over a lunch stop while you’re on the road.
